MGM Resorts International casinos and hotels across the United States have been affected by a “cybersecurity issue” that began Sunday, a company official said Monday.
The nature of the incident was not immediately clear, but it was reported to have affected reservation systems as well as casino floors in the Las Vegas area and in several other states, the official, Brian Ahern, said.
The FBI said Monday that it is aware of the incident and that it is investigating it. A statement from the bureau’s national press office said the incident is “still ongoing” but did not provide further details.
According to a statement, MGM Resorts said it detected a “cybersecurity incident impacting some of the company’s systems” and that its investigation was led by external cybersecurity professionals.
