Hong Kong and the Chinese province of Guangdong have taken steps to minimize the effect of Typhoon Saola. On Friday they canceled hundreds of flights and evacuated around 800,000 people from their homes before the arrival of Saola.
The government also shut down schools, businesses, and even financial markets near the place. With winds around 200kph, Saola was expected to make landfall on Friday night or Saturday morning. This typhoon is speculated as one of the five strongest to heat up since 1949.
Near Guangdong, the government had evacuated 785,155 people from the main high-risk areas. Because of the cancellation of hundreds of flights, there were more than 300 people who became helpless at the airports.
As per the speculations, the weather will become worse rapidly as time passes and the typhoon hits the landfall. The storm is going to be 3 meters higher than the normal range and the water levels are going to reach record levels.
