On Friday, the company announced that Roblox premium plans (which include a monthly subscription to Roblox’s digital currency, Robux) will now allow users to sell their 3D assets to others.
Previously, gamers were limited to creating and selling 2D goods, such as virtual clothing, and were limited to applying and winning approval to participate in the UGC program so they could create and sell 3D assets. Roblox’s market cap has shrunk to around $18 billion after the 72 percent plunge of the stocks last year.
During an interview with Roblox’s chief product officer, Manuel Bronstein said,
Now you have the marketplace open to everybody, and you will have the opportunity to have a lot of creation on the platform. We know that with increased creation comes more engagement and more users.
