Asia Market: Hong Kong Cancels Trading On Friday, Japan’s Economy Grows Slower Than The Expectation

Asia-Pacific markets closed lower on Friday after Japan reported revised second-quarter GDP data. Hong Kong suspended trading for the entire day amid a storm warning. The Nikkei 225 index extended losses from Thursday, falling 1.16% to close at 32,607.84, wiping out its gains of the past week.

The Topix index declined 1.02% to end at 2,360.02. Japan’s economy grew at a 4.8% annualized rate in the second quarter, according to the revised GDP data, below the 6% growth forecast in the preliminary data and below the 5.7% forecast in a Reuters poll.
