Monday’s FDA decision opens up the latest COVID vaccines from Moderna, Pfizer, and BioNTech, to most Americans, even those who have never had a COVID vaccine. The decision is part of a broader shift to treat COVID-19 fall updates more like annual flu shots.
The CDC advisory panel is expected to issue recommendations on who most needs the updated shots on Tuesday. The Novavax (vaccine maker) said its updated COVID-19 vaccine is still under review by the FDA. The first COVID-19 vaccinations could start later this week.
In a statement, DA vaccine chief Dr. Peter Marks shared his thoughts like,
Vaccination remains critical to public health and continued protection against serious consequences of COVID-19, including hospitalization and death, We very much encourage those who are eligible to consider getting vaccinated.
